About Me

eyes_folioA native of Southeastern Minnesota, I’ve enjoyed writing since an early age. During my senior year of high school, I wrote a weekly CD review column in the Teen Beat section of the Rochester Post-Bulletin. From the fall of 2009 until the fall of 2011, I wrote articles for Driftless Music, a blog I created that was focused on inspired and progressive musicians from the Twin Cities and Driftless Region of the Upper Midwest.

In the broadest sense possible, I consider myself a technical communicator committed to using my skills to define & achieve business goals within the creative sector. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2008 that led me to Minneapolis / Saint Paul for two years of cutting my chops at the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Diverse Emerging Music Organization and the Hennepin Theatre District.

For my efforts, in September 2009, I was awarded a National Arts Strategies’ Future Leadership fellowship by Springboard for the Arts in St. Paul, MN. The following spring, Springboard for the Arts hired me to speak on a guest panel at a workshop for teens considering a career in the arts (& their parents). Lastly, also during my time in the Twin Cities, I served on a Metropolitan Regional Arts Council grant review panel and then subsequently wrote a successful $4,624 MRAC grant for the Diverse Emerging Music Organization.

More recently, I’ve spent the last three years in Decorah, IA and Winona, MN utilizing my business & communications experience in leadership roles with the 89.1 KPVL – NE Iowa Community Radio and Mister Groovys Music Games and Movies. I’ve also taken on freelance work doing technical design & writing projects for Mid West Music Fest, Free River Press, Some Sum Studio and Michelle Lynn Music. During my time in Decorah, I was invited to serve a year on the board of the Driftless Art Collective, an organization that supports and promotes artists and the arts in Decorah and the surrounding area.

This site is loaded with content demonstrating my writing and editing skills. I invite you to explore it to gain a better understanding of who I am and the work I very much love to do.
